⇒HÉPATISÉ,-ÉE, adj.
Atteint d'hépatisation. Un poumon hépatisé, ou fortement comprimé par un épanchement séreux (LAENNEC, Auscult., t. 2, 1819, p. 200). Tissu pulmonaire congestionné, infiltré de fibrine et de leucocytes, quelquefois hépatisé, ou même carnifié dans les pleurésies un peu anciennes (CALMETTE, Infection bacill. et tubercul., 1920, p. 178).
REM. Hépatiser (s'), verbe pronom., rare. Être affecté d'hépatisation. Le poumon s'est hépatisé rapidement (LITTRÉ); (ds GUÉRIN 1892, Nouv. Lar. ill., Lar. 20e et QUILLET 1965).
Prononc. : [epatize]. Étymol. et Hist. 1819 (LAENNEC, loc. cit.). Formé à partir du gr. « avoir la couleur du foie, ressembler au foie »; suff. -é. Bbg. QUEM. DDL t. 8.
